Welcome to Inglewood, home of the Blue Mallee Eucalyptus!

We are located within the ‘Eucalyptus Distillery Museum’ in the township of Inglewood in the Loddon Valley region of Victoria. This region has been distilling blue mallee eucalyptus oil since the late 1800s and the industry is still alive today with 2 distilleries operating close by. Read on for more information about the site.

The retail store, coffee bar and museum is open to the public Thursday - Sunday 10am - 4pm whilst guided tours are available for groups 7 days a week. Bookings are essential and homemade refreshments are available. Please contact us for more information at eucyblue@gmail.com.

FYI: The museum is council owned but does not receive any public funding and relies on entry fees and volunteers to keep running. The museum has been open since July 2011.

 
 
 

The Old Jones’ Distillery in the mid-1900s.

 

The Old Jones’ Distillery is now heritage listed and is located on the museum grounds. Visitors can walk around the site and view the old boiler, truck, vats etc.

 

The museum houses a unique collection of historic items including old tools, oil bottles, art works, photos, news cuttings and industry paraphernalia. There is also a retail shop and coffee bar on site.

Guided tours are available for group bookings and include a walk around of the old distillery, a demo of eucalyptus oil distillation, and a comprehensive talk about the history, industry and uses of eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus Polybractea or blue mallee is a type of eucalypt that is endemic to the Loddon Valley region of Victoria. Blue mallee eucalyptus oil has been produced in this region since the 1800s and is still being produced today. With a cineole (eucalyptol) content of over 90%, blue mallee oil is the highest quality and most sought after eucalyptus oil in the world.
